The Shipwreck

24/11/25

One cold stormy night as we traveled the pacific ocean, a wave crashed our ship. When it hit us our items went overboard. Our crew now has to go survival mode. It means we need to get the sails down, protect ourselves, secure our belongings, and ride out the storm.

The next morning, we saw that our ship was wrecked because of the storm last night. There were lots of pieces missing from the ship and most of our resources were flown away by the heavy current. We used tools we still had and some leftover wood to try to patch up the holes.

After several hours, we covered some of the holes and continued with our journey.

We steered the steering wheel left and right hoping to find dry land to restock on our resources. After a bit, we ended up finding a small island. It was filled with life, such as healthy plants , plenty of food, etc.

When we arrived there, our captain spoke firmly. “Be careful for any danger.”We all nodded cautiously. Out of nowhere, a whole group circled around us with weapons. “Who dares to come to our island?”. Before we could speak, I got knocked out, everything went black.

When I woke up, I was hanging above a very hot fire. One of the people we met said “Your group is going to be perfect for tonight’s dinner.” He said eagerly.

We started going lover, skin barely an inch from the fire, our captain tried to plead for mercy, but it was too late

Recount About Camp

3/11/25

Last week on Wednesday , 22 October, we went to camp. The place we were going to for camp was Christian Youth Camp, located in Ngāruawāhia. In the hall before camp, it was so packed full of students and parents. After about 25 minutes we got into our class lines and our teachers did the roll, making sure all of us were there. Then we slowly walked to the buses class by class.

On the buses we were talking about how eagerly we were looking forward to all the fun activities CYC (Christian Youth Camp) had there. Overall the drive took about an hour and a half and most of us were asleep because we were tired since we woke up early, but the moment we stepped foot into CYC, all of our energy was regained.

Whaea Krystal quickly explained what we were doing throughout the day and we walked to our cabins to settle in. I was in cabin 9, alongside Meleane, Loralai, Faiana, Maia, Aarvi, Veda, and Hamra. We grabbed our bedding from our bags and made our beds. After about 10 minutes or so we were called to change into different clothes, whether it was for dry or wet activities.

We got into our rotation groups and immediately jumped into our activities. The first activity my group had was zuru x shots , we used these nerf guns that had foam bullets to shoot our targets. We did a practice round before getting into the real game. The rules of the game were :

  1. No shooting people’s heads.
  2. If you get hit, you must put your hands in the air with the nerf gun and walk to the green space, counting to 10 before getting to play again.

After about an hour, all the groups rotated. We went to the pools, then mudslide, and then we went on the hydro slide but sadly we ran out of time because it was time for dinner.

For dinner we had nachos and it was really good. After dinner group 3 ( which is my group ) had to do the dishes. After awhile we FINALLY finished the dishes. Everyone was chilling out, playing catch with a tennis ball, playing at the park, etc.  Loralai, Oliana, Farah and I were colouring with the colouring books inside the hall. We also made smores at the camp fire and they were super good! Later everyone had a shower, brushed their teeth, and went back to their cabins and off to bed. Meleane and I were laughing a lot because Loralai put her pink blanket over her head and Meleane called her a pink alien 😀, that’s why Loralai’s nickname is pink alien now. I really enjoyed camp and hope to gp back some day.

Bye for now!

Holiday Recount

During the first week of the holidays I went to Farah’s house for her birthday, including Faiana, Loralai, Maple, and Oliana. We first went on the trampoline, and later we started watching The Conjuring. After that we went to the dining table and there was so much stuff! There was gumballs, fizzy drinks, pasta, pizza, anything you can possibly think of. After eating we went to the park and played with someone’s dog. We then came back to finish The Conjuring and went on the trampoline again, we had so much fun but sadly I had to go home but it was still fun!

During the second week, Scarlet and I went to Butterfly Creek. We first saw the butterflies, and it was so hot inside, like I was honestly sweating SO MUCH, but the butterflies were so pretty. Next we went to see the dinosaurs, and there were different types of dinosaurs, such as Branchiosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, and more, after that we saw the mythical creatures like unicorns, phoenixes, dragons, etc. After that we went on this train and we saw lots of cool scenery. Lastly we jumped back into the car and went home.

The End😁

Financial Literacy Session – ASB

At school this week we have been learning about how to save and spend money by Marlon and Esther from ASB GetWise. We have also been learning about how to start a business. In order to start a business we need to have a plan, and my business plan is to start a business called PacificArt where we make dresses, Tapa cloths, paintings etc.

The prices for our products will depend on different factors like the cost of  Tapa cloths, dresses, paintings, etc.

The prices of our products will be as follows: Dresses $35 /  Tapa cloths $25 / Paintings $10

I also made a logo and catchphrase for our business. The catchphrase for our business is “Art That Flows Like The Sea”, and the logo I made is showing on the right side.

I hope you liked this blog about what I have been learning this week at school.

Student Leaders going to Wendys

On pink shirt day the student leaders went to Wendy’s to celebrate getting their student leader badge.

We got to Wendy’s in our school vans, then after we got to Wendy’s we sat on some of the tables and waited while Whaea Krystal was ordering some food for us.

Shortly after Whaea Krystal went to pick up the food we started eating like little gremlins and ate all of it in the span of 5 minutes🤦.

After eating we still were hungry and begging Whaea Krystal to get more food, and guess what. SHE GOT ICE CREAM😝, which we also finished instantly..🥲.

The End😁

Rongomatane

Today we learned about lots of maori gods with Whaea Tracey. So today I’m going to be telling you about Rongomatane.

Rongomatane is 1 one of the 6 brothers of Ranginui and Papatuanuku.

Rongomatane is a maori god, he is the god of cultivated plants. He is also the creator of the kumura (sweet potato).

Even though Rongomatane looks mean, he is very kind and peaceful with everyone.

Rongomatane is also married to Pani-Tinaku and they have 3 children together, Rangi, Mokoiro, Akatauira.

My Matariki Animation

Xin chao,

My name is Luciana

Today I am going to share with you what I have been learning about in class.

This week we learn how to make Matariki animations.

The challenging part of making this was choosing which colour to use,

I was gonna use blue or yellow but I decided to use yellow for the stars.

We also got to make Cook Island animations too.

I really enjoyed making these animations.

I got the idea from Whaea Naomi.

As you can see in my picture,I have learned about Matarki.

We learn it every year.

Have you ever learnt about Matariki?

Comment if you do.

Dance Party with Coding

Hello, my name is Luciana and I’m going to share with you my learning.                                                                      Today I have been learning about coding.                                                                                                                            One of the best things I learnt was coding the characters like I was controlling them.                                              I I got the idea from Whaea Naomi.                                                                                                                                          I really enjoyed making the characters move left to right.                                                                                                The challenging part of making this was trying to make it how I wanted it to be. It was hard to move the characters because of the settings but I got used to it and then it was fun.                                                                    As you can see in my picture, I have been learning about coding. I had coded a lot as you can tell.                        Have you ever learnt about coding? If so how good are you?

Comment if you want to learn about it.
